Cosmetic Fillers

Injectable skin fillers have added new dimensions to the field of cosmetic dermatology, allowing new forms of facial rejuvenation and wrinkle treatment without surgery. Injectable skin and wrinkle fillers are used to increase tissue volume (as with lip augmentation), reduce wrinkles, and improve skin's overall contour. Premiére Dermatology and Surgery, as well as Aesthetic and Laser Boutique, offer several options:

Radiesse

Radiesse™ is a safe, FDA-approved dermal filler that restores a natural, youthful look and last longer than the former leading filler. This convenient treatment fills and corrects smile lines, nasolabial Folds and wrinkles around the nose and mouth. Radiesse™ is made of unique calcium-based microspheres suspended in a natural gel that is injected into the skin through a simple, safe and minimally invasive procedure.

How does Radiesse™ work?

Radiesse™ works with your body, below the skin's surface. Tiny calcium-based microspheres form a "scaffold" to support and stimulate the growth of your own collagen. Over time, the calcium-based microspheres gradually break down and are safe and naturally absorbed by your body. Radiesse™ does more than just temporarily fill-in facial folds and wrinkles—it rebuilds your skin's foundation and restores your youthful look, without the risks associated with a permanent implant.

How soon can I expect results? How long will the results last?

The results are immediate. Radiesse™ typically lasts a year or more, longer than the leading filler, saving you time and money. Since results may vary, be sure to discuss your expectations with your doctor.

How is Radiesse™ Treatment performed?

Radiesse™ is injected into the skin through a simple, safe, convenient procedure. Typically administered in a doctor's office, with the use of a local anesthetic, Radiesse™ treatments have little to no downtime, with most patients returning to normal activities soon after treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

Many patients will achieve their desired result after just one visit. Because Radiesse™ is a longer-term cosmetic enhancement, and to ensure your satisfaction, your physician might schedule a follow-up visit, where a touch-up treatment may be recommended.

Is Radiesse™ permanent?
No. Treatment results are long lasting, but not permanent. The calcium-based microspheres gradually break down and are safely absorbed by your body so you will have none of the risks associated with a permanent implant.

Restylane®

Restylane® is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds.

Where can Restylane® be used?

Restylane® has been used in more than 4 million treatments in over 70 countries to correct a variety of wrinkles and to enhance the appearance of the lip border. It is currently approved in the U.S. for the treatment of facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds, which are the lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth.

Restylane® is injected directly into the skin in tiny amounts by an ultra fine needle, resulting in minimal discomfort. The procedure is simple and convenient and results are practically instantaneous. To optimize your comfort during the short procedure, your physician may decide to numb the treatment area.

How long does Restylane® last?

Restylane® is proven to deliver long-lasting results. Studies have shown that Restylane® effects generally last for about six months. The unique NASHA™ technology helps maintain the cosmetic effect until the injected material is nearly gone. Follow-up treatments are typically scheduled at six-month intervals. (Individual results may vary.)

What are the advantages of Restylane®?

Restylane® is natural, cosmetic filler. BOTOX® is a drug that blocks nerve transmission and relaxes the underlying muscles. Many patients have been very pleased after receiving treatment with both products.

Perlane®

Perlane® is an injectable cosmetic dermal filler that has been used to soften wrinkles and facial folds of patients across the world. It is also a popular filler for lip augmentation, facial depressions, and facial scarring.

Perlane® is made from non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid (NASHA) gel. This means that Perlane® contains no animal products. Since hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in the skin and other tissue, there is no need for a skin test when using Perlane® filler. The hyaluronic acid in Perlane® supplements the body's natural supply, which becomes depleted with age. Perlane® is biodegradable so its effects are not permanent. The results of a Perlane® filler treatment tend to last six months to a year. This is much longer than the typical results of collagen injections, which may only last three to six months.

Juvéderm™, Juvéderm™ Ultra and Juvéderm™ Ultra Plus

Touted as the "next generation" of facial fillers, Juvéderm™ injectable gels gently smooth wrinkles and folds around the mouth and nose and restore a youthful volume to the face. What makes Juvéderm™ different?

A smooth consistence gel, it creates a high degree of cross-linking.

How long will it last?

Dependent on age and lifestyle, 6 months and longer.

What are the side effects?

The injection site may experience redness, swelling, pain / tenderness, firmness, swelling, lumps/bumps, and bruising.

Sculptra®
before and after photo

Sculptra® is approved by the FDA for restoration and/or correction of the signs of facial fat loss (lipoatrophy) in people with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Facial fat loss, or lipoatrophy, is the loss of fat beneath the skin, which can result in sunken cheeks, indentations, and hollow eyes. Sculptra provides a gradual and significant increase in skin thickness, improving the appearance of folds and sunken areas.

Sculptra®, produced by DERMIK® Aesthetics, provides a gradual increase in skin thickness and is a long-lasting, non-surgical cosmetic device that restores volume and fullness to the skin. Visible results appear within the first few treatment sessions, and no skin testing is required.

Sculptra® is also being evaluated as a cosmetic treatment. This "off-label" use of the product often produces dramatic improvement in facial lines and wrinkles. Dr. Boutté will determine if this is appropriate for you.

How long do the results last?

Treatment results may last up to 2 years after the first treatment session, in most patients. Touch-up treatments may be needed to maintain the desired effect.
